How many golf clubs do you need for beginners?

If you are a beginner golfer, you should start with 10 golf clubs. You can play golf with a fairway wood, iron and putter, but you'll want to learn how to use more clubs if you want to be able to handle any situation. While golfers are allowed to carry up to 14 clubs, the beginning golfer could start playing with as little as 10 clubs. This could include a driver, 2 fairway woods, 4 irons, 2 wedges and a putter.

You can find sets specifically labeled for beginners that offer 6-9 suits, and are probably the best option for a developing player. Beginners should carry a full set of irons (from seven to nine), as well as a putter. This club selection is considered a standard complete club set and should help you overcome most shots on any course, making sure you are well equipped for any situation. I will never forget my first golf clubs, they were half set by a company called “Precision Made”.

A single-figured golfer throughout his adult life, he lives in London and still enjoys playing whenever he can with friends and family. You have already learned that your club set must include 14 clubs, which is the limit imposed by the rules of golf. Get a set of sticks that will allow you to visit the shooting range and play your first round, that's all you're looking to do right now. You may have gotten into golf after watching the pros do their thing on the PGA Tour, but make no mistake, you don't need the same equipment as them to have a great time playing golf.

They can be used for short or long shots and, depending on your level of play, you must carry a minimum of four irons in your golf bag. Many of the big golf brands offer complete sets with everything from the driver to the putter, all packaged in a bag that will send you straight to the first tee ready to roll. Eventually you will want to have a 3 wooden stick, but for now a taller stick, such as a 5 or 7 wood, will serve your needs better. Playing golf with the right equipment is important and, as a beginner, you need to find the right equipment for your level of play.

As I watched my golf beginnings, I remember starting with a golf game that my best friend gave me. And the additional good news is that golf manufacturers have made things easier and hybrids usually have the same loft and are numbered exactly the same as their comparable irons. We're going to call your iron game from six irons to pitching wedge, which means it will consist of five clubs in total. As a beginner, you'll experience the greatest frustration with this club, but there's a reason to say “drive for show, putt for dough”.

However, if you're new to the game and want to pick up some clubs to learn, walking into a golf shop and following a salesman's example can be an overwhelming experience. The clubs you want to wear will change over time as you develop skills and gain experience.
